There Are Six Distinct Neighborhoods:

Alder Manor is the only area in San Carlos that does not utilize the San Carlos Public Schools. It is in the Redwood City Elementary School District, specifically the Clifford Elementary School, which has good API rankings. Alder Manor offers larger lot sizes and, therefore, more privacy than any other Area in San Carlos. 

Beverly Terrace is in the hills of San Carlos with many homes having amazing views and good accessibility to Interstate 280.

White Oaks offers a great walk score by being close to downtown Laurel Street, Burton Park and it is home to White Oaks Elementary School.There is a charming feeling to the area because of the nice combination of bungalows and new construction.

Howard Park boundaries encompass Central Middle School, Brittan Acres School, Burton Park, and Laurel Street. Many of the tree lined streets are flat. However, the knolls section is hilly but with a good walking score to downtown.

Clearfield Park runs between the El Camino Real and Highway 101, It is probably the most affordable area of San Carlos which being close to Cal Train that can be looked at as a good feature if you are commuting and possible a negative if the train noise bothers you.

Cordes also know as "North San Carlos", has both flat and hill properties. Some of the homes are within walking distance to Downtown San Carlos while others are next to the Belmont border.
